PhD Project

Teaching quality and school segregation: perpetuating inequalities

  • Investigate mechanisms of teacher allocation to schools as a function of market mechanisms (e.g., privatization, marketization) and school segregation (school composition, resources, climate, urban/rural)
  • Study effects on student achievement and equity on country level using fixed-effects analyses (PISA 2000-2015 and TIMSS 1995-2015 data)
  • Identify the role of formal learning opportunities in the reproduction of educational inequalities
